GLS Ireland expands Cork location

Dublin, 15 December 2005. Expanded capacities: in time for the end of the year, GLS Ireland is relocating to a larger depot in Cork. “Recent months have witnessed a continuously upward trend in consignment volume; the old depot has had its day in terms of capacity”, explains Olaf Stüwe, Managing Director of GLS Ireland. “With the move, we are doing justice to the high transportation volume. At the new depot we can handle up to 4,000 parcels a day.”

The new location of GLS Ireland in the Wallingstown Business Park in Cork is not just excellently connected but is also centrally situated for the catchment area. From this depot, the company serves the areas of City Cork, County Cork and County Kerry. On the 2,000 square metres of grounds, there is not only a transhipment point, but also a Parcel Shop, where private and commercial customers with sporadic shipments can hand in their parcels – for reliable and safe delivery at attractive rates.

Quality and Security

From the automatic parcel-sorting system to the IT equipment – the expanded location features the very latest in efficient, state-of-the-art parcel logistics. Furthermore, modern 24-hour video monitoring and a powerful alarm system make for the greatest possible security all over the grounds. “Even in peak times when depot capacities are exploited to the full, we offer our customers constant GLS quality”, says Olaf Stüwe. “This means: a high reliability and adherence to promised deadlines as well as extremely low rates of less than 1 in 10,000 parcels in losses and damages”.
