Standard Parcel

Standard Parcel
GLS delivers parcels with a weight of up to 30 kg all over Ireland and up to 50 kg internationally. The maximum belt measure (is calculated by: 2 x width + 2 x height + 1 x longest side of the parcel) is 3 m (max. length 2 m, max. height 0,6 m, max. width 0,8 m). The standard delivery time is 24 hours within Ireland, 24 – 120 hours in Europe and 72 – 120 hours worldwide.

24 hour standard delivery time
GLS offers deliveries within a standard transit time of 24 hours throughout the 26 counties of Ireland. Parcels accepted on one working day are delivered as a rule on the next working day.

Insurance
Every parcel is insured to its invoiced value, up to a maximum of € 350,-. Higher insurance cover can be arranged, if required.

Delivery
The delivery takes place from Monday till Friday during the usual business hours.

Customer base
Most of the parcels handled by GLS are sent by commercial customers. Parcels are delivered both to business and private addresses.

Fixed delivery date
Senders can decide the day of delivery themselves. If desired, GLS can store consignments for up to five working days free of charge.

Delivery scanning
The delivery label is scanned for proofing the orderly delivery. The recipient signs on receipt of the parcel directly on the touch-screen of the GEPARD Signer (hand-scanner). All relevant data – including the recipient’s signature – are thus available electronically and can be accessed via the Internet by all parcel customers with appropriate access permission.

Refusal of receipt
Should a delivery be refused, the sender is informed and can decide within one week what to do with the consignment. This is also the case if the address provided is incorrect and the correct address cannot be obtained.

Address correction
If the recipient has changed address, correction (and corresponding delivery) is made where possible. The sender is informed about the change following the delivery.
